CHELSEA CASSIO
SCREENWRITER

After graduating from film school, I sold my first short film, Imaginary Friend, to ABC (Australia). Since then, I’ve written multiple episodes of series television, including The Doctor Blake Mysteries (BBC/ABC), Secret Bridesmaids’ Business (Channel 4/7 Network), Miss Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries (Acorn TV/7 Network), Troppo (Amazon Freevee), and Return to Paradise (BBC/ABC).
My original work sits in the darker genres, including grounded sci-fi, psychological horror, crime and mystery. I’m drawn to stories where perception can’t be trusted and characters might be faced with a false or unstable reality. This is explored in my sci-fi series The Others, selected for the 2023 UGC Writers’ Lab at Series Mania in Lille, France.
In 2023, my original crime series won Best TV Pilot Screenplay at the Prix Royal: Paris Screenplay Awards and was a finalist at the Swedish International Film Festival, New York International Screenplay Awards, and the Fabrique du Cinéma Awards in Rome. My TV series Cloak received development funding from VicScreen, where I collaborated with producer Simon Mirren (Versailles, Criminal Minds). My series concepts have been optioned by Mediawan (France), Federation Studios (France), Atlantic Nomad (UK), and in Australia: Easy Tiger, Hoodlum Entertainment, Princess Pictures, Curio Pictures and Seven Studios.

I'm a graduate of the Writers' Homicide School in Las Vegas, where I honed my skills as a crime writer, and I’m currently developing original television projects with European producers, focused on premium international genre storytelling. I enjoy collaborating with teams and building ambitious series for global audiences.
